Welcome to the Alpine River Outfitters Guide School. Our guide school was created in 1994 and has been a well recognized forum for aspiring guides to get involved in the exciting world of guided fly fishing. Our school operates on the waters surrounding Vail. We operate our school with the number one goal of creating polite, safe, courteous, knowledgeable, and prepared guides. We have trained hundreds of fisherman to become guides over the past 13 years.

Unlike other guide schools we do not operate our guide school as a profit center for our guide service but rather as an educational forum for aspiring guides to get the experience necessary to go out and get a position as a guide in any operation in the West.

Our wade guide course is a perfect forum for the fly fisherman to learn the useful tactics of some of the most seasoned guides in the Valley. This course is designed to teach the wade fisherman how to be a wade fishing guide. We will hire directly from this class which is the only way to become a member of our guide staff.

Our float fishing certification course is for individuals who wish to become float fishing guides and need to have the certification in order to do so. This is a very physically demanding course and should only be considered if you're seriously thinking of becoming a float fishing guide in the state of Colorado.

The Weekend Warrior Class is designed to teach float fishing skills to the fly fisherman who wants to do it on his own. We will float several stretches of the Colorado and potentially the Eagle River during early season.

These classes can be taken for personal or professional applications. Our week long course can also be a great team building exercise for groups or corporations.

Your instructors for the course will be Janis Putelis, Brody Henderson, and Rob Waters. All have extensive year-round guiding and rowing experience and have instructed the guide training program for several years.
